On the 28th of August of 1612, Juan Vivas de Canamas, the ambassador of king Philip III in Genoa, commissioned the Genoese sculptor Giuseppe Carlone to carve a large statue made of Polveracio white marble representing, according to the drawing attached to the contract, the figure of a knight. The portrait depicts none other than the Duke of Lerma, whose marble effigy was intended to preside in his castle and palace of the Valencian city of Denia and was installed there at the end of 1613. El presente texto confirma que el monumento funerario encargado en 1609 por Juan Alfonso Pimentel, conde-duque de Benavente a los genoveses Giuseppe Carlone y Oberto Casella fue para la sepultura del fraile Domingo Anadón en el convento de Santo Domingo de Valencia.
